Women Empowerment Networking and Development Organisation (WENDO) is a women-led charity dedicated to empowering women and girls and transforming the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable and marginalised communities in Kenya. We believe that when women are given dignified opportunities, they thrive, and in turn, create lasting change for their families, communities and future generations.

The word WENDO reflects our values: 'love' in the Kamba language and 'visitor' in Luo. Guided by these meanings, we approach our work with humility, recognising that we are not experts over the communities we serve, but partners who walk alongside them. As visitors, we act with intention, contributing with respect, compassion and a deep commitment to meaningful impact.

Inspired by the lived experiences of our trustees, who have witnessed the realities faced by women in resource-limited settings, we are driven to challenge inequality and close the gaps that continue to disadvantage women and girls.

Recognising the vital role women play in households and communities, WENDO champions gender equality and delivers practical, sustainable solutions through strong partnerships, especially for women and girls living in poverty.
