Women Empowerment
At WENDO, we empower women through practical, community-driven solutions that build skills, strengthen livelihoods, and create opportunities.
We offer market-relevant skills training, including vocational, digital, and entrepreneurship programs, alongside leadership development to build confidence and independence. We support women’s economic empowerment by providing business and financial literacy training, strengthening small enterprises, and linking women to markets.
We also create networks and mentorship platforms where women can connect, learn, and grow together. Through advocacy and community engagement, we promote gender equality and amplify women’s voices in leadership and decision-making.
Finally, we strengthen community resilience by supporting women-led initiatives, savings groups and collective action, helping women uplift not only themselves but their families and communities. It might sound straight-forward, but it's not.....

The Challenge
Across Kenya, many women still face barriers that limit their full potential. Access to education and skills remains uneven, especially in rural and marginalized areas, while young women are more likely to be unemployed or in low-paying, unstable work. Financial exclusion also persists, with many women lacking access to credit, savings, and investment opportunities.
Cultural norms and gender inequalities continue to restrict women’s leadership and participation in decision-making, leaving many underrepresented in key spaces. These challenges not only affect women individually but also slow community development and economic progress.
The Gaps We Address
Despite ongoing efforts, critical gaps remain. Many women lack practical, market-relevant skills, making it difficult to secure jobs or start businesses.
Opportunities for mentorship, networking, and support are also limited, leaving women without the guidance and connections they need.
Women entrepreneurs often face barriers such as limited capital, inadequate training and poor market access, preventing their businesses from growing. At the same time, many vulnerable women, especially at the grassroots level, are excluded from sustainable livelihood opportunities.
